The Cemi

The Hacienda GripiƱas Inn

Some of its historical heroes were Don Eusebio Perez Del Castillo, a very rich and powerful Spaniard, and Don Julio Grau Batlle, who was the mayor before Jayuya was officially founded. In 1853, Don Eusebio Perez Del Castillo established Hacienda Gripinas. This coffe plantation formed an important part of the region's agricultural sector during the second half of the 19th century. The Hacienda's beautiful main house was restored by architect Otto Reyes Casanova in 1974, and since then has been used as a Parador. It is an ideal place for a vacation for anyone who might enjoy a rest amidst historical reminiscences and under nature's enchanting spell.
